What do you do?

Spare Time Publishing publishes both fiction and nonfiction books in all major genres including Self-Help and Informational pamphlets and we earn money when we sell books through our distribution channels and marketing campaigns.

What royalties will I earn?

Spare Time Publishing pay to our authors is 50% of net royalties and 50% of all payments received for subsidiary rights licensing deals. How much you earn is determined by how much your book sell for.

We can distribute eBooks through all the major online eBook retailers, or we can distribute through Amazon exclusively in the KDP Select program. We prefer to use KDP Select because because it’s a proven producer of higher royalties and profits than distributing to other eBook retailers. Amazon dominates the eBook market in the US and UK (the two biggest markets for eBooks in English) with at least 75% market share.

When eBooks are sold on Amazon, they pay us 70% royalties when priced between $2.99 and $9.99. For books priced lower than $2.99 or higher than $9.99, Amazon only pays 35% royalties. Your split of the payout of net royalties 50% of what we are paid. We send out royalty check once each 6 months.

Net royalties are produced in the following manner. For example:- when we sell your book for $29.99 paperback book on Amazon.com and we receive $10.48 from Amazon for that sale. That amount is the net income and we send you 50% of that $5.24.

Will I still own the rights to my book?

Yes, you will still own the copyright to your book when you publish with Spare Time Publishing. If you do not have a literary agent when we decide to publish your book, we will become your literary agen. As your literary agent, we do not charge you anything, however if you already have a literary agent, you will be required to give Spare Time Publishing an exclusive license to publish your book for a term of five years, with an option to renew for an additional 5 year term is we so choose.

Does my book have to be professionally edited?

It is hoped that you will make every effort to edit your manuscript before submission, but our editorial department will provide finishing developmental editing, copyediting, line editing, and proofreading services free of charge.

Availability of my book internationally?

Your book will be available in English to all the countries of the world through Amazon.

How long will it take to publish my book?

Spare Time Publishing strives to published every manuscript as quickly as possible

Once an agreement is reached and a contract is signed it can take anywhere form 3 to 10 months.

Marketing for my book?

As a published author, you now have a responsibility to us and yourself to promote your works to the world. You must learn to connect with readers, your fans and influencers directly. Once you have a fan following, it is they who will buy your books, tell their friends, and ultimately help you pay become even more successful.

People don’t care who publishes your book. They main concern is being able to connect with the author of their favorite book. That’s why you must help us build your unique author brand but never at the expense of the necessary time for you to continue to create more manuscripts.

Here are some common marketing tasks we will can you to do so you can grow your fan base faster:

• By the creation of and maintaining of your website complete with an active blog.
• Always ask for email addresses from all you fans to create an active email subscriber list.
• NEVER and I mean NEVER neglect to respond to all fan emails.

What if you reject my submission?

When you are an aspiring author, never let worry of rejection stop you. That is negativity and the one thing an author should avoid at all cost. Submission is of the utmost importance and your goal.

Do you publish every manuscript submitted?

No. We do not publish every manuscript submitted. If your manuscript is not accepted for publication, you will be informed within 30 days and provide with our critiques.

Do you accept submissions if I have a literary agent?

Yes, we accept submissions from authors have an literary agent. No agent NO problem! Most of our submissions are from authors who do not have an agent, although we do accept submission from literary agents as well. If we do a deal with you directly, Spare Time Publishing will become your literary agent and you’ll be able to keep your full share of our generous 50% royalties agreement.

What is the cost for us to publish your manuscript?

Spare Time Publishing is a veteran owned, no-fee independent publishing company. "NO FEE" means we never charge a fee up front to publish manuscripts. We earn our profit when we sell books for you. Spare Time Publishing originally got its name as everything was done in the spare time of its now CEO.

Fresh out of the military during the Viet Nam War and with the responsibility of supporting a family, there was very little spare time to follow his dream, writing. After many, many rejections of his works, then came the idea, I'll just publish it myself and "BOOM", Spare Time Publishing was born.

Do You Accept Physical Submissions?

No, we do not accept or review any physical manuscripts. Any unsolisited submissions sent to us by mail will be discarded, so please save trees by submitting your manuscript digitally for review electronically.

NOTE: We do NOT ever purchase manuscripts.
